I had my first & only shot of Depo in June of this year, and am so extremely frustrated. I haven't gone back for another shot and regret getting one in the first place. Some of my side effects have been: RAPID weight gain, no sex drive whatsoever (even though i used to be quite sexual), depression, mood swings, fatigue, nausea in the beginning, spotting; to name a few. I have been off of the depo shot for three months now and still have no period. I am also continuing to gain weight even though I'm no longer on it. No matter what I do to try and lose the weight NOTHING works. Does anyone know how long it takes after being on depo to lose the weight? I am so frustrated because I used to be healthy and active but because of the depo shot I gained 15 lbs. in three months and I cannot lose it for the life of me. Going on the depo shot also brought my depression back, and I feel like my life is at a standstill. Five years ago, I was hospitalized for depression but then worked through it and was generally a happy person up until the time I went on Depo. Since then, my depression has been pretty bad and I feel completely helpless. All I want to do is lock myself in a room and never come out. This drug needs to be BANISHED from the market. I feel for anyone out there who has had a horrible experience from Depo. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm 36 years old and have been on Depo for the past 5 years. I asked my doctor on several occassions if there were any side effects for being on it so long...she told me it was perfectly safe and you could stay on it for as long as you wanted. Now, my last shot was last month, which will bring me to the middle of Feb. when I will not inject another one!! Through reading all the women's concerns and side effect stories, this has gotten me really worried, not only for my health but for others. I would like to join the law-suit against this drug!! My bones hurt all the time, lower back pain, a feeling of "not all there and don't care about anything", blurred vision, depression, night sweats, weight gain that no matter how much I exercise, I can't shake, tiredness, shakes, nervousness, etc, the list goes on. I can't wait to get this out of my system, however, it sounds like it could take years if you do ever return to normal!! Is there anything to take to counteract this drug now? Please help!! I want to hear from you...

I got my first and only shot in april after an ectopic pregnancy. It cause more pain than relieve. I spotted a lot, had mood swings, started feeling depressed. By the end of July the effects should have worn off so in september I got what I thought was my first period after depo. Then it took longer than expected in october but I got a period and then 15 days later at the beginning of november started bleeding again. After having an ectopic, that actually cause me to bleed like I was having a normal period and then spotting (thought it was normal cause I was 3 months postpartum and breastfeeding my child) and then again what I thought was my next period, I am just so scared everytime I bleed. Finally in december I got my real first normal period and got one in January too so I am really hoping my body is finally recovered from that poison!!!!

I wish you all good luck with getting that poison out of your systems!
