weight gain

I have been on the depo shot since i was 19, i am now 32. THE WEIGHT GAIN has been out of control. I didnt know until i found this site that some if not most of it can be because of the shot. My last shot was in July and I didnt return to get the following shot in September. Its been three weeks and i havent seen my period YET. I hear i will lose this weight now that i am off the shot, how true is that and when can i expect it. I know one change i've notice since my shot was due is SWEATING like someone poured water over my head if i get slightly hot. Is this normal, is it the water im holding because of the shot. I just want to know how long til i lose this crap and when will i be regular again

Yeah, I know what you mean about the weight gain. It's awful. I just stopped the shot and wonder if going on the pill will help with what I go through after depo. I've been on it for almost 10 years. I'm glad I'm not the only long-termer. I have read a lot of posts from those who were not on it very long and I just wonder what is in store for those of us who have been on it for longer.

It is somewhat comforting to know I am not alone. But that means someone else is also having similar problems and I don't wish that on anyone! I too, am having problems getting my weight under control. I had one shot seven years ago. I have gained almost fifty pounds. I work out regularly (5 times a week), and follow my dieticians recomendations for my diet. I still continue to add inches. I also have feelings of rage, apathy, depression, low self esteem. I have migraines on a weekly basis. And many others, too numerous to name.

My biggest wish is to keep someone else from this hell and to be able to pull myself out of it someday soon. If anyone has any tried and true ways to lose the weight, please share.

Hmmm.......I was told by another sufferer that it depends on how your body metabolizes it...how fast. She started her period after 19 days. I noticed that I seemed to have lost a lot of the bloating. I haven't started yet though. My boobs are sore though!
