I haven't been here in a long time, but I thought I would post this to give you ladies some hope. I used to post here a lot when we were TTC after I came off the depo shot.
I first went on depo as a teen and recieved two shots. I went off it and got my periods back right away. I never thought anything of it, and went back on it at 20 about six months before I got married. I recieved two injections total. We were married in June of 2002 and I was due for a shot right then, but didn't get it in the hopes we would get pregnant. I got my periods back in September, and they started coming regularly (every 28 to 30 days, without fail) by January.
I kept track of my cycles and made sure to have sex during our fertile times for well over a year. By September of 2003 I decided to see a fertility specialist. She determiend that I was ovulating fine, and decided to first test my husband before doing anything invasive on me. My husband's sperm count was a little on the low side (28 million per/mL, normal count is 40-55mil) but they still called our infertility "unexplained." I think depo can explain it, but eh.
I took a round of Clomid but the side effects were intense (I don't do well with hormones, I've discovered after all this). I took a drug called Femara which is new for use as a fertilty drug and not tested in young women, so my doctor was not sure if it would work. Well, I did get pregnant, but it turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy. After that I just gave up. I figured I would enjoy my youth, save more money, and try at a later date. Well, I was delighted to find out I was pregnant in March of 2004!
Our daughter Jane Elizabeth was born on November 26, 2004. After she was born my periods came back at around 3 months post partum, and they were regular within two months. I think I had four cycles total before becoming pregnant again with our second child in July 2005. Erica Grace was born on April 4, 2006.
You can see my BLOG for photos and their birth stories.

So keep trying ladies! Depo does not make you infertile forever in most cases. |
