| I went to the Doctor last August and was told at 37(nonsmoker in good health) I was getting too old for the pill so I couldnt have it anymore. The only reason I have been on the pill the last few years is so I can control my periods, Hubby and I go away alot so I like to be able to skip them when I want. When I told the doc that he said why not try Depo? Then you wont have any periods at all. At first I didnt want to try it as all I have heard is that alot of women gain weigth on it, which I couldnt afford at 159 pounds. When I asked him why most women stopped taking it he said it was because of the spotting not weight gain, and said as long as I eat right weight wont be an issue, as for the spotting since I have been on the pill so long it shoudlnt be an issue either. So I went ahead and did it in Sept, all was good till the 2 weeks before my next shot was due then I started with the spotting! It lasted 2.5 weeks and went away a cpl days after my second shot. Then on Jan 14th I started spotting again and it hasnt stopped (almost 4 weeks straight!)!! He has recommended that I have one more shot and it should start working for me, but for the last week I have been doing alot of reading online and I am afraid to get another but I also am afraid of how long this will take to work itself out of my system. My hubby and I think I should just get off it now and get it over with. This spotting is driving me nuts I dont think I can handle it going on for months!! I have managed to lose weight on it though I must admit, I am down to 141.8 pound, so really my only concern is the spotting. From what I have read it seems it really doesnt matter whether you have 1,2 or 10 shots the after affects are all the same!! I had an email from a lady yesterday that had 2 shots and she spotted for 9 months continuously after!! Anyways I will NOT be going for my next shot on March 8th. |

So my question is: is there anyone that went off Depo that didnt take forever to get back to normal??
I would love to hear how those who were on it a short time did after they went off it as well. |
