I also just went and signed it (#647) and left a comment. I felt like saying so much more but didnt want to write a book about it. Although I bet if someone did in fact wrote a book out there it would help out so many young girls who dont know the difference and people like me who are told, oh yeah and some side effects are no periods, "maybe" some weight gain. NOT Mentioning anything about Mood swings, No energy, possible hair loss, and it would be nice to know you probably wont feel the need for SEX so say goodbye to your sex life and the way your body looks today. I am 26 years old and should be loving sex and wanting it alot more but for the past 5 years since being on the depo I now realize if I want to change my weight at all and want to enjoy sex I need to end this now and not go in October for my next Depo. I am aware of the after effects, withdrawls and I am scared more so then being on it. But I also have a dream of being a mother for the second time and hope after the depo runs out of my system I can get that chance to be pregnent again. I never thought there was so many people out there like me who are just as scared, and have hundreds of questions...and the ones we should be asking for advice (doctors) never really give you the Full story but then again its not them who will have problems so why not use someone. We are all victims here and something should be done for all the pain and suffering. I found this site just 2 days ago it has helped me alot in these two days. Thank you!!!

I just signed. Will this petition be submitted to the Canadian Government too? Hope so.
I couldn't believe my own experience and now I'm Shocked by some of the things I'm reading here. Does Anyone's doctor really know anything about this drug or do they read the same pamplets we get in the box, hand it out and wait for their free pen and pencil sets?
The worst thing is....until you have your own experience, no one takes these sites very seriously. I didn't. Hate to admit it but you read a hundred negative things and then your doctor says you'll probably be fine and you do it anyway.
I hope this petition gets recognized! This needs to change!!!

I signed your petition and am #676. I had 3 shots and almost lost my husband due to the horrible mood swings and complete loss of a sex drive. The NP I talked to when I decided to stop getting the shots looked at me like I was an idiot when I told her that I couldn't handle not being "me" anymore. My last shot was in March 03. Still having some problems, but I'm no longer attacking my husband for no reason.

Thank you for this site....it's nice to know all of this wasn't just in my head.

I finf this all so disturbing!
Birth control was pushed by my clinic and Depo was suggested. I was told slight weight gain and possible irratibility for first run and that my menses may stop until shot time.

First run I was as crazed and aggressive as a meth user! My period stopped until one week til shot due. I lost weight and stopped producing milk. I was breastfeeding and it was not supposed to cause a problem!

Now second run- I spot on the drop of a hat, bleed a lot after sex (even if non- penetrative). Still moody. Gained 20 pounds in last two weeks (okay..10 is likely turkey day)
I have had my first migraine since age 14!
I am puffed up odd
I feel almost pregnant cept the bleeding.
I puke a lot if I drink even a shot of any liqour.
I was never given an info sheet like you get for regular oral contraceptives.

What I read scares me? Early menopause?!
I am 40 with a 23 year old fiancee and new baby. We want a couple moreonce we get married and are stable. My family is fertile into our 60's. It was not a worry. Til now!
My other children are 7 and 10.
This baby was concieved while on luna. I had been on it 5months before ever having sex. Heh! we also used to use spemacidal inserts and condoms.
Gee don't any of these drugs get truly tested? On their intended consumer?
I had problems before on Ortho 777. High blood pressure to an aneurism. Weight gain. Vomiting. Spotting. And pregnancy. This was in 87, they may have worked it out now
I sure will sign when of dial-up monday!
