Depo Long Term Use

I am 28 years old and have been on the depo shot since my daughter was born 9 1/2 years ago. I believed this to be the most wonderful form of birth control ever. I had no periods (which were often painful and debilitating), no weight gain, nothing to worry about.......right?

Well, 9 1/2 years later, I am feeling the effects. I have been diagonosed as bi-polar, bone density loss, fibromyalgia, artheritis in my left hip and etc, etc, etc.......

Thanks to my mother and current boyfriend, I am off all medication, my doctor is putting me on "regular" birth control pills and I am in a complete state of depression that I cannot seem to lift out of......does anyone have any suggestions?

Well, I have been on it almost 10 years. Just quit. Now I wait..for??? If I were you I might get a second opinion about the Bipolar Disorder. My brother has it. But, I also know with depo it can cause depression and mood swings. I doubt it causes bipolar disorder. For me I had the outrageous weight gain...and I regularly work out and eat healthy!!!!!
I had bone density loss as well. Just found out last month.
